AC Shadows Reveals Unexpected AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected crossover event that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "An unusual confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where whispers of banned practices and monstrous transformations echo through the darkness." The plot introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine sect.
The mission concentrates on "peculiar experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses
The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an special katana in addition to multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Content
This update also introduces the game's third free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
