The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
